EN: ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS 9

Prerequisite: Humanities 8 / English 8

​​This course builds on the foundation of Humanities 8, continuing to focus on Communication, Thinking, and Personal and Social core competencies. Students will keep developing the skills and knowledge set by the Ministry of Education. They will work toward becoming confident readers, writers, and creators of many kinds of texts, including digital ones. Through purposeful communication, students will learn to listen carefully, share ideas clearly, present information confidently, and understand how language connects to culture. They will respond personally and thoughtfully to different types of literature, such as novels, short stories, plays, poetry, and non-fiction.
EN: INCENTIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS 9​

This course builds on the foundation of Incentive Humanities 8, continuing to focus on Communication, Thinking, and Personal and Social core competencies. Students will keep developing the skills and knowledge outlined by the Ministry of Education. They will become confident readers, writers, and creators of many kinds of texts, including digital ones. Through purposeful communication, students will learn to listen thoughtfully, share ideas clearly, present information confidently, and understand how language connects to culture. They will respond personally and critically to different types of literature, such as novels, short stories, plays, poetry, and non-fiction. Incentive English Language Arts 9 includes the full Grade 9 curriculum, along with enrichment opportunities like independent studies, group projects, discussions, inquiries, and debates. Students will explore challenging literature and show their learning through written, visual, and oral work, as well as inquiry projects.
